I have nothing but sympathy for everyone along the gulf coast that has been affected by Katrina. And it totally sucks that the thousands of homeless people are now in another city's economy with little to no hope of acheiving gainful employment. Most of these people are below the poverty line.

We all know Bush sucks. He won't run again in 2008.

And quit bitching about gas prices. New Orleans supplied nearly 1/3 of the nation's oil and 1/4 of the nation's natural gas. The prices are going to go up. And, even if we had 10,000 more drums of oil coming in every day, we don't have the capabilities to refine it any faster than we are right now. get used to prices raising. Drive as little as you can. The United States, on average, pays less for fuel than most nations...even at $3.50-$5.50 a gallon.

I read a petition today...it went something like this:

Petition to George W. Bush. The 2000th person to sign this online petition needs to email it to president.at.whitehouse.gov.
2005 petition to lower the prices for gasoline and diesel in the United States.

and over 1500 people signed it. Fucking morons that think he can change that tomorrow. Like Bush is going to get it and say some shit like "OMFG!! The American peoplez don't liek to pay more 4 teh gasolinez?? ok! I'll lower it to 25 cents...is that ok?"

And another open letter to the OPEC about how they should be ashamed of themselves for gouging Americans in their time of need...due to the hurricane and shit. And that
"Sure there will be other countries to buy oil when we tap Alaska ((and destroy the entire untouched landscape up there)) But not many as important and The U.S.A.
You want a good relationship with the United States of America...TRUST ME."

What are you, FUCKING STUPID???????? nevermind, in order to answer that you might need some manageable rational thought. You *ARE* FUCKING STUPID!

And stop sending out emails about how it's Bush's fault and he's a moron. We've known he's a moron for 5 years now, congratulations on joining the rest of the fucking planet in that realization. Blame the people that elected his monkey-ass again.

If you hand a retard a sharp object and he starts stabbing people with it, who's fault is that really?

I don't hate bush. I find it hard to hate inanimate objects and that's all he is. I don't even hate the morons that make the decisions for him and tell him what to say. But I have a really strong hatred for the half of Americans that voted him back into office again.

Wrong. New Orleans supplied only about %10 of the nations gasoline and natural gas. The inflated gas prices are gouging by big oil who are "creating" this crisis to jack up profits.

Uh, you're the one that's wrong, dopey ass. NO supplied fully 25% of the US' refined gasoline, and when supplies are as tight as they have been, we should feel LUCKY for 3.00 a gallon.

"The deep offshore wells now account for nearly a third of all domestic oil production, while Louisiana's Offshore Oil Port, a series of platforms anchored 18 miles (29 kilometers) offshore, unloads a nonstop line of supertankers that deliver up to 15 percent of the nation's foreign oil. Most of that black gold comes ashore via a maze of pipelines buried in the Louisiana muck. Numerous refineries, the nation's largest natural gas pipeline hub, even the Strategic Petroleum Reserve are all protected from hurricanes and storm surge by Louisiana's vanishing marsh."

re October 2004 national Geographic article entitled Gone With The Water.

read it slowly. see where it says 1/3? that's more than 10%. Ten percent is only 1/10. Let's go back to the basics, here...can you add whole numbers? ok..good...now decimals:

Good luck. When you finish doing a little bit of reading, go ahead and come back. You can read, right?

That being said, OPEC isn't gouging us, the prices at the gas pump are rising because most of our refineries are underwater and we have to import our gas from further off now.

Oil and gas are fungible, the price is set by global supply and demand. The transportation needed to get them into your local gas pumps however, is not.

Again people in europe don't have *near* as far to drive as many Americans.

That and your public transport is far better then what most of us have.

Some of you might vaguely recall I predicted the oil bubble would burst in August. Well I was partly wrong, but Steve Forbes just announced that oil is a huge buggle, so I was right about that :P

so fuck yallllllllllllll

well, since we have some people in New Orleans shooting at construction workers and rescue helicopters, it means we have terrorists here in America. We are breeding and harboring them.

We should invade ourselves in order to liberate us.

Blame the dickhead that drives the H2 & other giant SUV more than the manufacturer that sells it. I drive a chevy metro, so not too many people can bash my "gas guzzler".

Although Bush is a lousy president, Kerry would not have been one ounce better...well, maybe merely for the fact that democrats would finally SHUT THE FUCK UP about complaining about the President.

It seems like the mayor of New Orleans screwed the pooch on this one more than anyone... there was a disaster program in place that was not followed to evacuate those who could not leave on their own. I guess when he ordered the "mandatory evacuation" he forgot that a hundred thousand folks are incapable of leaving and he forgot to pick them up and drive them out of town. Putting them in the superdome was stupid as hell and I commented this to my family as soon as I heard they were doing this. Fuckin' common sense doesn't exist.

The #1 people at blame were the idiots who stayed behind... #2 (and #1 to blame if the people wanted to leave, but couldn't leave without help) is the mayor of New Orleans. #3 would be the disaster relief response of the state of Louisiana which has gone unaccountable in the media for some reason...everyone likes to skip right on up to the federal government. And yes, they were at fault too...not the president so much as FEMA. #4 at blame is the director of FEMA who probably will get his walking papers right after this mess is over, and if he doesn't...Bush is even more of an idiot.

People don't understand that the #1 problem was the city left town and left its own behind to die. This is nothing on the federal government at ALL. It is called LOCAL GOVERNMENT for a reason, folks. The US government takes a month to strike back at Afghanistan after 9/11 if you don't remember, and the war in Iraq started after a month+ of moving equipment there as well. The federal government is not designed to be there in 24 hours, unless it is a special ops mission which obviously cannot deal with a disaster of this kind. They still underestimated the problem, no doubt, but this miscalculation was not helped by complete failure of local and state governments which merely compounded the seriousness of the whole thing.

2 things:

1. "We all know Bush sucks. He won't run again in 2008."
No shit sherlock. That would be illegal - ever hear of term limits?

2. "The United States, on average, pays less for fuel than most nations...even at $3.50-$5.50 a gallon."
Yeah, but the added taxes pay for things like socialized healthcare - they pay more, but the extra revenue goes to services for the people, not tax breaks for the rich and big business.

1. That's why I said it dickhead.

2. What's your point?

I liked this post Unabonger. Although foreigners pay more for gas I doubt most of their cars are blood thirsty vampires like ours and I doubt they drive as far. I think it all evens out.

I dislike Bush but I think he has more balls than that limp-wristed fag Gore.

I still don't understand how George Bush is responsible for the extremely high winds and rain that caused the devastation.

If he really is that powerful, people need to stop fucking with him.
