Kinda cheesy, but also kinda true. It doesn't really do any good to write good stuff. People ignore it. I've been dicking around a lot lately, camwhores and such, but I don't care about the hits they bring. I don't care how many people see some bullshit I did the other day and then a picture. It's fun discussion, sometimes, and it staves off boredom, but it's nothing major.
But when I go to post a real article, or an AHTT, I'm still getting a meager amount of hits. That doesn't bother me because I enjoy having a high hit count, no, reset it to zero today, I don't care. It bothers me because my audience, the people who enjoy my sense of humor and will read my work with regularity, aren't there anymore. They were before. Now they're not. But I don't want more readers because I want my hitcount to go up, I want more readers because, well, I want more people to be reading what I write.
But, I think, the more hits you get from shit posts, you're actually doing yourself a disservice. If you try to be a serious writer, I mean. The readers interested in actual work will learn to ignore your name. If and when you do post something serious, the kind of people you want reading it will simply ignore it. Meanwhile, your shit posts friends will click it, see it's something serious, and probably leave.
Not 100% true, obviously. Just a theory, I suppose, but it makes sense to me. Shit posts can be fun, but they're killing my audience, so I try to avoid them most of them time.
But seriously, Bart, reset my hit count. I don't care.
