As midterm elections approach I feel it is my patriotic duty to write a political post. In the interest of fairness I'll state that I don't like Bush and his administration, although you'll probably pick that up on your own. I feel that this administration will be remembered as the most corrupt and dishonest administration ever. I know it sounds absurd that this Administration would ever be dishonest about anything. They've been on the straight and narrow about everything:
WMD, there not there, well it doesn't matter Saddam was a bad guy and we are the world's police.
Hurricane Katrina, who would have thought that 'Brownie' would be vindicated?
Plamegate, the divulging of an operative of the United States is treason, a crime punishable by death; actually this one infuriates me. While wrapping themselves in the flag and denouncing those people who disagree with the administration as unpatriotic, they blow the cover of a CIA operative.
Jack Abramoff, like it or not the vast majority of Abramoff's butt boys are affiliated with the Republican Party.
So-called illegal wiretapping, well it ain't illegal if you decide to indulge in some ex post facto legal maneuvering.
So Bush sycophants lets hear some tortured (like that one?) justifications, parsing of the Presidents words that would make Clinton Blush, and general denial of the facts.

domey,I'm not going to dignify that Clinton parsing of what exactly 'undercover' agent is defined as, Ms. Plame had an alternate identity.
ETS youre an idiot. Despite your paranoid fantasty, Al Queda pulled off a very demanding and exact operation right under the governments nose. They were good, but more importantly they were lucky.
indo the federal governments reponse to Katrina was inadequate to the point of farce. But thats beside the point. Mr. Brown was positioned to take the blame by framing him by using his own words against him. It's surprising that he has been vindicated, thats what I was speaking to. The cover-up/smear campaign worked for a while, until the massive incompentence of the Department of Homeland Security was revealed. The President takes the hit on that, he created a giant beuacracy to deal with precise situation. They failed he failed.
As to Abramoff the other guy did it too defense doesn't work. And the fact that he was allowed too 'entrench' himself occured during a period of Republican control is not point. The point is that Congress, in this case mostly Republicans, are corrupt.
And your weasley lawyer like response to the point about electronic eavesdropping is precisely the after the fact justifcation that I was speaking of. All the administration had to do was have the Congress agree to an extention of an exsisting law and this whole matter could have been avoided. They are incompetant and dishonest and they should be pilloried after they lose their seats in Congress.
and the red guy midterm or off year elections will happen in the fall.

There was no leak. It is impossible to leak the name of a covert CIA operative if the woman is not covert. No covert agent is known to be working for the CIA, as Ms. Plame was. No covert CIA operative is seen driving into Langely, which Ms. Plame was. No covert operative spends multiple years out of covert intelligence work, as Ms. Plame does. No leak ever occurred. EVER.
I know the facts don't matter to you, I just thought I'd point them out.

"Hurricane Katrina, who would have thought that 'Brownie' would be vindicated?"
Nothing Bush could have done. THe ball for prevention of shit like this is all in the hands of the Governor, If Bush went in and federalized the guard earlier the only difference would be he would have gotten more blame.
"Plamegate, the divulging of an operative of the United States is treason, a crime punishable by death; actually this one infuriates me. While wrapping themselves in the flag and denouncing those people who disagree with the administration as unpatriotic, they blow the cover of a CIA operative."
It infuriates me, but it was completely legal to declassify what they want. Imoral, slimy and underhanded, but legal.
"Jack Abramoff, like it or not the vast majority of Abramoff's butt boys are affiliated with the Republican Party."
Only because the GOP has been in power while he was getting entrenched. And there are plenty of dems involved with him.
"So-called illegal wiretapping, well it ain't illegal if you decide to indulge in some ex post facto legal maneuvering."
Nothing ex post facto about it. You wouldn't think that a letter sent out of the US is protected from search when it goes to another country, why would you think so about any communications. Wiretapping when one party is outside the US is clearly legal.
All of that being said, I hope the republicans lose the house.

The list of Bush's and his pet Congress's infractions are too many to mention...but you forgot the 9/11 coverup.
That investigation was a JOKE. Who woulda thunk it considering FEMA carried it out (when they're not even an investigative body).
I want it reopened and I demand justice for the murder victims. IF that means hanging every fucking member of Bush's inner circle, so be it.

A very wise man once told me that it's that kind of thinking that leads to dictators getting into power. I didn't understand what he meant, but I'm simple.

OK, and... what? This means we should hand the reigns back over to the equally dishonest Democrats?
The two party system is a failure, and I'm not even a Greenie.
