"I'm gonna kill you, crazy bitch!" His voice rises from a back room, weakened by pain.
You already killed me, she realizes. There's nothing left in me but instinct. Reaction. Emptiness.
Tree shadows surge in heavy motion beyond glassless windows. Leaning over the stub of a puddling candle, April opens her eyes. Dark sparkles gather on the razor edge of a curved knife beside her. She passes her finger through the flame rhythmically, feeling pain rise and depart like soft touches of time that die as they are born. Hot, cool. Like our bodies: now they're hot, then cool.
"...is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in..."
The distant male voice is now a part of the crickets and cicadas and bullfrogs that make such a deafening racket in these backwoods that they've become unnoticeable.
Wind-thrown shadows spiral over the empty room. The floor looks tie-dyed, out of control, like the night. Night is a bigger place than day, she realizes. The beat of the night is a lawless rhythm. The hours of each day are planned and calculated, but the dark is not premeditated; it flows its own way, beyond the jurisdiction of order and logic, rampant, receding from sight across formless miles as the night moves on. She hears the flitting dip of bats snatching moths from the darkness.
The night requires only instinct, fluid reactions. Dogs sense things, they back away to guard their tiny territories while cats turn the corners of night as part of the darkness. Lethal. Dogs don't fuck with cats at night.
She holds her little sister's black and white photo near the candle, "HAVE YOU SEEN ME?" in bold lettering. The unfolded paper is frayed and soft against her moist hands. She has opened and refolded it hundreds of times.
She remembers the old rusted freezer she'd found in the woods behind the house, packed with young girls' bodies in various stages of decay. The smell had been like a blow to her face.
Her sister on top, her throat slit. April senses them all, all the dead girls gathering around. Watching. Waiting. A silent choir ready to rejoice.
The single .22 hollow-point shot to his stomach had put him down long enough for her to tie him to his filthy bed. That was two days ago now, three?
She lifts the knife and stands. Crows leave the rafters, swooshing by like a dark wind out a window as she walks to his back bedroom.
"Bitch!" He coughs out the word as she enters. "Kill me, just do it! I've died a thousand times in my life! What would it be if I died again?"
April smiles: "A thousand and one."

about your writing i miss reading, what i meant was your after hours reviews, which i used to stay up late to read. Lots of gold in them. I really don't recall that many posts of yours, only one, about the "best" dives in Vegas. It certainly pointed us tourists in the best directions, but the places i remember there, the kind of places we only show pics of to "special" friends.. there's some place off I 516, (Bonanza Road or something) the worst bar in world history, called something like The Funky Butt. I'd like to see you do a Worst Of Vegas post, that would rock.

This was not written in ghola's style. She's not generally one to be this descriptive; anyone who knows her work knows this.

Honestly? I had no idea. I've seen it done on here, literally maybe a hundred times, although mine was meant completely good-naturedly, and i only meant it like the saying, "Imitation is the sincerest form of..."
Anyhow, hope she likes. Oh well. Glad you guys liked. Just a quick take on her flash posts.
Thanks for the heads up. Probably though, it's malicious posts whilst pretending to be someone else that gets them banned. But I'm assuming. Mine was just a cover of sorts, a tribute. I shall refrain in the future. She is one of my faves.
