This post is in response to what seems to be a regular habit with some of the citizens of
Australia, Britain & Canada. Why do you feel the need to lambast the U.S. at every turn? Not only
is it juvenile and narrow-minded, it also tends to piss Americans off.
The obvious problems are that you see Hollywood and NYC and that is the sum total of your reference
about America. They may be the epi-centers of our global influence, but they in no way reflect the
America that I love.
I love the America that wakes up at 4AM busts its ass all day, goes home and lives the dream.
The dream being that, although I am one small part of something great, I have every opportunity.
The only thing keeping me back is myself.
How many times has the United States used that spirit to create a huge military force to protect
ourselves and our allies? How many European countries would not be what they are without
the 'interference' of the U.S?
For a person to make the Neanderthal comments about Americans such that I have seen on this site
shows only ignorance and fear. Motivations similar to those of racists.
My point being simply.. talk about what you know. Not what you are fed by media or wherever it
is that you get your misinformation.
------------------------------
Not exactly what I wanted to be my 1st post but I guess you go by what you feel a need to write
about.

The only reason Clinton was so good financially was because he was president during the biggest economical boom since the industrial age. There weren't any terrorist attacks, so he didn't have to deal with that quagmire of doubt.
Look past the statistics idiots.

Fair Play Hairsphincter that's just what I thought. One of the few satisfactions left in the future is that this lot will be on the sharp end when their country disintegrates into slums and gated communities; have lots and have absolutely shit all. Europe can then buy America from the corporations it will have been sold to.

This kind of talking down to me is exactly what this post was about.
Why does everyone that is not an American act and talk superior to us?
Like you have the sole ownership of logic, morals and insight?
(I will admit to liking all other aspects of this review)
Because you write bits of shit like this, that's why we talk down to you and most of your brainwashed ilk, if you could see your and the posts you are trying to protect through my eyes you would shudder.
Because the one thing that these posts have in common is a beginners lapse in history, that America has ever helped anybody unconditionally and that GERMANY DECLARED WAR ON YOU, YOU SAT THE FUCKER OUT UNTILL YOU HAD TO FIGHT.*
Now you (The US, not individuals (well you personally really with that living the dream nonsense)) tell the rest of the world how free, great, moral you are when your actions this century have been amongst the most vile. (Personally on that last note, I agree with the fighting of Communism (just not the method), but if the Americans hadn't attacked Communism from the moment it had been realised how different things might have been)
Read other newspapers than American ones e.g. the Guardian from England. Oh and everything Hairysphincter said
*With the gallant exeption of all the American pilots who volunteered to fight in the UK before Pearl Harbour

When did I say that happiness & affluence (the dream) is solely American? (feel free to cut & paste please). If you like to infer into what you read then go right ahead.
My point is the majority (hell just about all) Americans are good people and not a demon such as what we are made to feel like by non- Americans and Americans alike.

I remember I saw an ad in a newspaper encouraging people to get a US green card. The ad read:
Why come to America? Because last we heard, there's no such thing as the Canadian Dream.
Whoa. Back the fuck up. Since when was the dream of affluence and complete freedom American, and nobody else's? Oh, I guess only American people are allowed to dream that, right? Or maybe it's that the only place that wealth can be found is America? Jesus fucking Christ. This is the kind of thing that really pisses me off. I don't really hate America, I just hate the examples they send to the rest of the world, and their entire reigning monarchy. I mean government.
Also, I have every right to make fun of fat Americans, because on average they ARE fatter than Canadians. So there.

'Superior'
No, I don't think I am superior that was not the intent of the original post. I was defending Americans (people like me) that work, eat & sleep. We do the best we can but we are imperfect at best. However, we don't condone, speak or teach hate (of an individual or a country). When I read something where Americans are singled out as evil uneducated buffoons why wouldn't I be irritated? I have nothing against any citizens of foreign countries, in general. There are a few I have met that I don't like, but still many more that I do.
My poorly thought out post obviously was not conveying what was my intent.
But thank you to a few for actually replying with measured and intelligent responses (positive or negative).

I'm an American and I say America blows ass. It was awesome up until I was 16 (this is the age I became infuriated at my government). Ever since September 11th 2001 (a week after I turned 16), though, America has gone to hell in a hand-basket and taken the rest of the world with it. From dividing my nation politically, to starting pointless wars that would pin the whole world against America, Bush has done everything in his power to fuck up everything he can. This is why I voted against him this past election (I can not believe that fucking idiot won again). Although I do have to give Bush some credit, he did (with the bloodshed of young American soldiers and none of his own) set up a democracy in Iraq that is forming the democratic mold of the United States. And you are all probably thinking "what at all makes you think the democracy in Iraq is anything like that of the United States, Brillski? Two words: vote recounts. Maybe one day Iraq will become a "thriving democracy", but let's hope their leaders are never imperialistic, belligerent assholes like Bush that make people with bi-polar seem stable. Also, are there any fellow Americans out there that are thrilled about the proposed "re-formation" of Social Security? I know that I want to be able to retire with financial uncertainty.

This kind of reckless patriotism is dangerous. Why does it always come down to Us vs. Them?
Let me break this down to you like this, everyone on the planet is getting up at 4am busting their asses to live the dream. Do you think you work any harder or are more disserving of success than a fisherman in Sri Lanka? What makes you think you're so damn special? So you were what born somewhere in the land mass between the Atlantic and Pacific so we're naturally on the same team? I think that we Americans are doing the best we can for the most part, but so is everyone else in the world. Big fucking deal. Do tell, what if you had been born in Australia? Give up, fuck it right. Hell you'll never be anything but Australian so why fucking try. Pity they can never be as kewl as we are, fuckbeans why don't they all just respectfully get out of our way by throwing themselves on their swords. At the very least, they could quit having babies since it just perpetuates the incurable disease of non-Americanness.

That is a very good point. The Jews were "encouraged" by any means possible - often passive aggressive - to move to Israel and stay there, not just from Germany but from All of Europe - and a whole bunch of Africa as well.

Nationalism is dangerous. Just ask the Jews that survived Hitler's shit.
-------------------------------------------
Dumbass, if you bothered to ask them instead of merely exploiting them as a rhetorical device the answer you'd get would be something like, "Oh hey, we think nationalism is great, that's why we founded a NATION called Israel where we can secure the basis of our own defense instead of trusting our lives to the oh so tender mercies of the "civilised" Germans, Austrians, French, Italians, etc. etc." Oh and by the way, the Euros were only too happy to plop the Jews down in the middle of the Palestinean "homeland" as long as it got rid of their "jewish problem" - yea you Euro fucks that was so much more civilised than the "final solution".

I'm trying to be fair here, 'cos there are an awful lot of idiots on both sides of this arguement.
For every Anti-Bush knobhead, there is a Freedom Fries "Patriot".
This is a very scary time to be alive, but the way to survive is not by becoming a insular, terrified, reactionary nation. Open yourself up to the world. Try to instill the values that once made America the envy of all nations, into the corners of the world that need it the most.
People hate Bush for three reasons.
1. He's an easy target.
2. His constant obfuscations and flat out lies in an attempt to justify an ILLEGAL war. If any other
country on the planet [UK excluded :)]tried this they would get a hell of a whupping from the UN and NATO.
3. He is the figurehead for the deepest fears of most of the world's reasonable people. A Reactionist,
unilateral warmonger.
PS: True Patriots would question what the government tells them. The anti-war protestors are more patriotic than those who support the war because they are told to.
PPS: I don't hate Bush. Just what he stands for.

15827, what you fail to see is that the US is currently the sole superpower (give China and the EU 25 years and this will alter).
US policy effects every nation on the planet, yet only registered US voters get a chance to vote and place the party in power. These people have proven to vote on US interests alone, despite the fact that the US Government will affect people globally.
If you have to hear people from the rest of the world discuss, criticise and complain, it's best you listen, you may learn. Failing to do so by the US people (who's opinion dictates Government policy) has seen a few planes fly into buildings in NY, DC & MD. You can't just think about Buttfuck, Idaho when you vote. Through your voting, you have a Government, through your Government you have international relations. Through international relations, you have YOU. (Do I have to remember "by the people, for the people"?).
It's fine for you to understand your nation's current power, and it's fine to feel empowered by that and proud of that. Power comes with responsibility, and if you fail to act, the consequences are your own.
My advice to you is to stop pissing your pants because you don't like what you hear. You should understand what is being said, you should try and understand WHY it is being said. You won't like it, but it may help you decide who to vote for next time.
First step is for you to find Canada on a map. Then branch out, find Europe. If that's too hard, look to Central and South America. Then look for Africa, the Middle East, Asia. Try, as hard as you can, to find Australia and New Zealand. Look at each nation and think about what happens there. Why do they complain? What can you learn? How can you take you new knowledge and become a better American, a better Global Citizen? Then do something about it.
OR - you can continue to get all pissy pants about other people being angry at you. If that's your choice, I would advise you don't enter tall buildings and you do stock up on gaffer tape.

Probably not, but it still rankles when you read a blanket statement. America is not the East & West Coast, it is every small town between them. That is our past and our future. To say that we are on a bend to ruin the world is harsh, unfair and wrong.

Maybe when you stop insulting every country that doesn't join you in wars that barely make any sense, we'll respect you like we did once.

Oh, i forgot that America is the ONLY country in the world where people work and have the ability to make money. Everywhere else in the world is tyrannically communist, hey?
And i forgot that Americans are the hardest workers in the world.
Oh and i forgot how you all save your friends and allies. America is the only country in the world that defends stuff right?
I also must be forgetting those other countries you constantly invade in order to keep an economical/political stranglehold on Earth.
Oh, and i forgot that Americans aren't forcefed media, and that Americans are actually the most open-minded people on Earth.
