Now I hear some people saying that because of the beheading of the American hostage that it justfies any attrocities Americans commited to prisoners in Abu Ghraib. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? One small group of unsanctioned people decide to behead someone, American soldiers repeadtedly abuse prisoners, much worse than what you've heard. There is evidence that soldiers raped both male and female children. Which is worse I ask of you? The prisoners aren't terrorists either, so don't try and make it out like that. Almost all the prisoners in Abu Ghraib are innocents picked up because they had possesion of a gun (remember this is the most dangerous place on Earth)and are released after three months without being charged. Republican senators are questioning why the prison is being investigated while American soldiers are fighting and dieing. Because you broke the geneva convention and someone has to pay, asshole. It wasn't just seven soldiers doing this shit, they've known for over a year and didn't do one thing to try and stop it, that's why Rumsfield is in shit. It involves a lot more than Seven soldiers, that's for sure.
One thing you have to remember is these are only the things that happen supervised in prisons. How many innocents have been executed by soldiers on the streets? How many attrocities have gone unpunished by soldiers meant to be liberating this country? Would you feel any different if this was happening to Americans? This is why everyone hates America, take some responsibility for your actions for once, you've done wrong, real wrong, accept it and maybe you'll be forgiven.

Where do you get this, "American soldiers repeadtedly abuse prisoners, much worse than what you've heard." Where did you get the inside scoop? How do you know what I have heard? I live in a Muslim country, I get exposed to a lot more anti American pro radical Muslim news than you do, and the stories from the prisons aren't much worse over here than I read on CNN. I still have yet to hear anything about rapin g of male and female children, or nay rapes for that matter.
I can honestly see how the pictures I saw in the prison could happen, but raping of children, that is a whole nother league of sickness.

Also, if anyone is interested they found out all the 'torturing' the british *did* was a hoax. It was on the news a few minutes ago. To insanethemind, things in NZ are good, I don't like that we have engineers in Iraq, but hey at least they aren't fighting. However with elections coming up we may end up having our tiny Army over there for god knows what reason other than to make us a target. To those who might say what the fuck do you know all the way over there? Well we get, American, French, German, Arabic, and a whole fuck load of other countries news here. So we get a pretty good view. Also you are right in telling me not to blame the whole country. Similarly a small group of soldiers stepped outside of their duties and their responsibilities and took justice in their own hands by humiliating and abusing prisoners. However, am I to understand that while the soldiers must face severe consequences for embarrassing a naked guy, the group behind the beheading of an innocent civilian are to be sympathized with because "big, bad America hurt their wittle feelings?"

Fine, let's put this in perspective,
"One small group of unsanctioned people decide to behead someone" - Unfortunately they were sanctioned by hundreds of thousands of islamic terrorists around the world. They decalred war on all non muslims decades ago and many of them would love to behead all of us and will not stop until they do.
"Almost all the prisoners in Abu Ghraib are innocents" - There is no innocence in terrorists who want to, plan to or have killed coalition members. The cell block in Abu Ghraib in which these photos were taken containied the worst of the worst.
Republican Senators are not questioning why the investigation is taking place. As with most Americans they understand that crimes were committed and that the people that committed these atrocities do need to be brought to justice. Leave no doubt about it, these were crimes committed in Abu Ghraib and the people that committed the acts or ordered them must be held accountable for their actions. But, any attempt to equate the beheading of Nick Berg to the abuse of the Iraqi prisoners is absurd.
The animals that displayed Mr. Bergs head as a trophy are the faces of Evil in this world. They are not limited to the al Queda or Taliban in Afghanistan. They are the faces of all extreme islamic terrorists every where. They cannot be reasoned with nor will peace treaties be honored by them. They will continue there false "Jihad" until they kill every "non-beliver" or die.

Thanks, I think I had heard that as well, but I have heard nothing about how long they are kept there, or maybe that is the problem. And as callous as it sounds i think it is better to have few innocent people locked up for a while than letting some psycho loose who is going to bomb US soilders, or innocent Iraqs. I do realize that isn't what the US should stand for, but in this case if Iraq is ever going to have a democracy, then it is needed.
I would still like to hear if anyone has heard of rapes, especially of children.

Yeah this is very incoherent but at least you are putting your views out there. However most the people in those photos were murders. Come on buddy don't get way out there about these are innocent people. These are men who tried to kill American soldiers. It does not make it right what the soldiers did to them and it was wrong. So is cutting off a civilian's head. Which that was who this victim was. He was a civilian and not a solider.

The British are being accused of the same things, things just as bad, and there's less of us to commit them. If this is true (looks likely), I think the British are getting off VERY lightly, regardless of whether they were under American orders or not.
But at least the American government admits there's a problem, Blair still keeps saying the British troop stories/pictures are fake. If proven wrong, the only logical step is that he has to resign immediately. Won't happen because he's power mad.

Also I notice the way the 'very top' of the command chain is being blamed but very few comments are falling on the people directly responsible for these individuals; the captains, commanders, generals who assigned these people and are directly in charge of them. What's happening to them?
And althrough evil and wrong, the recent 'decapitation' and otehr western deaths has done one good thing and that's highlighted the REAL problems and the REAL (extreme) reactions to these events, and hopefully it was stop this originally became which was a media political witchhunt and blame game.

Was it from the same evidence that turned out to be porns made in turkey to sell for profit and to incite people against Americans? I have been following this pretty closely and even Arab online news sources have no claims of rape with a shread of evidence or testamony from victims, especially rape of children. Can you please put a link to this?

Is everyone held there for three months? Do you have any or even seen any facts or figures for what people were picked up for, and how long they are held? I think this is probably coming from a few people who came out of their with horror stories. How many people came out of there with nothing bad to say? i am sure someone isn't going to recommend it to their friends after staying there, but a lot of people have been through that prison, and not everyone has a horror story about being there for three months for no reason. I am not defending what went on in those pictures, I am not defending taking innocent people away from their families for 3 months. But on the same hand there are a lot of crazy militants running around trying to kill US soilders or any Iraq's that work with them, how would you know who is who if you find someone with a gun? How do you try to restore order there with so many violent factions and radicals running around? Innocent people are going to spend some time in jail, it can't be avoided.
I do agree with you that what has been shown in some of those pictures is inexcusable. The US should not behave like that, or any country that thinks of itself as the good guy. Oh i'm not saying that this type of thing hasn't happened before, because it has many times. However, America is the only Western country to pull this shit recently (well Britian too I guess since they were in the prison as well, but this was under American command structure).
I'm sorry this was rather incoherent, i'm in the middle of writing an essay and was watching the American news we get here (ABC World news tonight) and it pissed me off, how bias your news is and how arrogant everyone they interview seems to be. I think that most of this is rather incoherent, but I agree that the one crime does not justify another.
In a nutshell, I think that it is accurate to say that most countries hate the US because of our foreign policy, which has been screwed up for years. Even if we picked up and went home now, we would still be hated--because we would have to take our foreign aid with us. Remember, this money is and alsways has been given to get people to fall in line with our policies. Washington simply isn't going to give anyone money if the politicians involved do not think that they will be getting something in return.
Personally, I think that we should take our troops and our money and go home. Then, when all are safely back within our borders, I think we should reinstitute a little thing called the TARIFF anc call it a lesson well learned!
