The revenge of the White Trash eh? As I thought to myself who the fuck came up with this title? I skimmed the net for ideas. Then I stumbled upon a picture of Roseanne. Of course! Who's more trash that Roseanne? Well probably quite a few people, but did they make millions on tv? Quite possibly, but are they the subject of my post? NO. Roseanne is, so shut it.
For those of you lucky enough not to know about the Roseanne show, it featured the family (see picture attached) with quirks like you'd expect from any sitcom. However, their quirk was the fact that they were a fucked up white trash family with quite possibly the most annoying person on earth for a mother. They had the fat drunk dad, played by the real star of the show John Goodman, the fat nasal, fat, demon of a mother Roseanne played by well, Roseanne. Two children who for the purposes of my post don't really need names. They were white trash, trust me.
What most people don't know is that this show was put forward by the Association of Stationary Settlement, or ASS. ASS were sick of being made fun of for their mullets, ripped clothes and lack of sanitation. They wished to mainstream their look, if rap could mainstream wearing your pants below your ass, they should be able to mainstream wearing your pants below your... well you get the idea.
So back to the show, this show ran from 1988-1997, that's almost a fucking decade. I can forgive people for letting it get past the pilot, but who the hell was still watching this programme for nine years? Thankfully the show ended before the damage was total.
However, watch many people today, wearing trucker caps and faded, patched and ripped jeans among other trash clothing.
Revenge of the white trash indeed.
