If you want to be entertained, this is not the post for you. Look elsewhere.
I'm not an artist or a writer. I won't entertain you. I'm here for me.

I've been thinking a lot lately about consumers vs. producers.
I am definitely a consumer. I think I'd be a lot more comfortable if I were bringing something to the table; living less selfishly. Even when I paint or make something, I can't bring myself to give it away. It's so personal.
I have a really hard time communicating with people. I rarely say what I'm really thinking. Again, too personal. When I'm with people I really know I have no problem, but with strangers I can't give up control to their interpretations. If you're going to take what I'm doing/saying and fuck with it, I won't waste my time. I can't bring myself to trust people with my thoughts, so I keep them.
Like now. I've been lurking long enough to know how it works. I will be put in my place, and this is one of those occasions when I really don't give a shit.
Well okay, it's because of the anonymity the Internet offers, not some epiphany.
Still cathartic.
This sucks, I will get better.
You know what to expect from me, ignore it of you don't like it.

Tammy, I don't think you deserve a negative rating for your post so I hope my 2 helps improve your score.

"I have a really hard time communicating with people. I rarely say what I'm really thinking. Again, too personal. You can only control what you say not how people interpret it. Why should it matter so much what other people think of what you say, especially strangers. Say what you like and be confident in yourself that since you thought it was worth writing about, therefore it WAS worth writing about. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone elses.

"I am definitely a consumer. I think I'd be a lot more comfortable if I were bringing something to the table; living less selfishly. Even when I paint or make something, I can't bring myself to give it away. It's so personal."

I can see where you're coming from here. Sometimes I write the odd bit of poetry or stories and I write best about what I know. However if I share those pieces of work it is a bit like giving away part of myself. If this makes you uncomfortable then the best thing I can do is to try to write fiction and for you, when you paint, maybe you should reproduce someone else's painting and put your own slant on it and those can be the pieces you share with others and keep your personal work to yourself...for the time being. I think eventually you'll have to bite the bullet and share but in the meantime you need to work on your self-confidence and belief in yourself so that you do not take negative criticism too much to heart.

The best art is personal art in my opinion but an attack on your art ISN'T the same thing as an attack on you - art is something you create and it may reflect dimensions of you in the past but it isn't the same thing as the entire you now.

"I've been lurking long enough to know how it works. I will be put in my place, and this is one of those occasions when I really don't give a shit.

Exactly, the internet is anonymous, so just say as much as you feel comfortable saying and even if you say more than you meant to, it doesn't matter. No-one knows your real name or where you live or what you look like and the only way we'd be able to find out is if you decided to tell us. So you are free to be or say whatever you like. Enjoy it.

"Still cathartic"

I'm glad it helps you.

"This sucks"

No it didn't, don't stress it.

Welcome to Über.

If you want to introduce yourself, then do it. Posting to say how little you care about us, that seems to be a tad hypocritical. Well written piece if nothing else.

I'd planned on ignoring this. (Isn't that how it goes?)
Dolph...quite the opposite.
I was expecting much worse.
I suppose this will be lost with all of the other recent newbie posts. Probably for the best.
Not an accurate representation of me, but I don't regret posting this.
It had to start somewhere.

you're right, should have ignored it. The point of this was???

that you're a whiny, selfish, self-centered little bitch.

You're hear for you. Ok, I believe that is the reason most people post here, for their own entertainment.

However, I do not see this post bringing even you any entertainment whatsoever. In fact, I might go so far as to say that I am sure you regret posting this.

Don't regret it, we all post shit. Some more than others, but all do it.

You'll recover, as this too shall pass.

This post will be forgotten, just as a I have already forgotten your username.

Productivity doesn't have to lie in improving other people's situation, it can be improving your own station in life.

Then again, I feel productive when I do all my laundry in one day.

See these? American donuts. Glazed, powdered, and raspberry-filled.
Now, how's that for freedom of choice.
