All but one went unopposed, their rivals crumbled to dust and forgetten without even a fight. That one was a hard-fought contestand the winner moves on. Now there are four remaining standing on the Uberground. All have shown their abilities and are worthy of their places here in the crimson-stained arena.

Here's the thing, Peckerhead; determination of the winner of the contest matchups is ratings-based - said so in the call for talent. Yeah, whatzisfag couldn't be bothered to do anything but rehash a tired and frankly boring old insult and -2 Jack right off the bat, but them's the breaks. If a bunch of alters showed up and +2d Jack all of a sudden, everyone would say he cheated to win. If I even ask Bart to drop that comment and thereby raise his score, it would be me attempting to cheat on Jack's behalf. Jack will win this round without my asking Bart for anything or he will lose it so, as it should be. If he loses the round, perhaps it will be said afterward that he WAS cheated.
As to opening up the subject matter; it's grUeBERfest. Not all the stories thus far have been horror, but it's a Hollowe'en-based writing contest. Horror's kinda built in. Ubertines is lovey-dovey, Ubermas is about whatever it's about and grUeBERfest is about blood. Uber Madness has a wide-open subject range, as does the upcoming 4UPA, ADD, and any other contests anyone would care to run.

Skrap, I gotta say, you have class. Call me an asskisser, but I actually thought Jack's story was better, although the competition made a good showing. I think I'll just watch from now on. This, as usual, is turning into a pile of wank. Keep up the good work.

Scrap, a couple quick ideas:
1. Jack got it right up the ass with an early -2 by "blackberry"; I know this is all in fun mostly but I also know that these guys/gals are giving it their all... or damn close to it. Please consider contacting Bart. He probably has a way to even things out, make it fair again etc. My fear is the bullshit (erroneous ratings, unfounded comments) might not be over. If it gets silly or out of hand then it won't be worth disturbing Bart about.
2. How about opening things up a bit for the last round? Some comments indicate readers -- and possibly authors too -- have had their fill of blood and gore. To me, the finalists will have earned the right to do something fun or give us their very best story. Maybe the authors will choose to stay with Halloween / Grueberfest themes... which would also be okay.
Anyway, that's all from the cheap seats. This is your gig and you've done great so far. I hope it finishes well and that everyone (authors and readers) take away something from this excellent competition. Take care.

Just started.
Wrote 600 words before wiping the whole thing in disgust.
Wrote another 700, went back to edit, and scrapped it all again.
*slams fist against head, several times*
Fuck, what happened to that great idea I had that seemed so good last night? Oh yeah. That bottle of Southern Comfort that was there last night, and is now in the recycle bin. That's what happened. I'm gonna have me a few more drinks tonight, but this time I'm gonna write some shit down, instead of the whole "yeah, that could work, and I'm *so* going to remember that in the morning" thing.
I'll try and think some twisted thoughts tonight and then see what happens.
