As I said in a review, I found this place by typing 'bored' into google. I guess I should have stayed bored, because this place seems to be full of assholes.
You have a contest, but several people rate based not upon the writing, but apparently on what they think of the writer. That is stupid.
Then I'm accused of being an alter of someone else. I am not anyone's alter; I'm me.
Why have a contest if all that happens is everyone slams the writers? Why not just read, rate, and have a good time? I thought it would be a cool place, but I was wrong. Several people here are great writers, but that is offset by others being jerks. What is the real purpose of the site? I'm pretty confused now.

You make a valid point. When I first started lurking around Uber back in 2002-2003, it was mostly a community of inspiring people - some of whom could write in a way that made you want to believe in all sorts of magical things like magic and fairies and magical fairies. Nowadays Uber is much more like a box of chocolates; mostly sweet on the inside, wrapped in non-digestable flavourless garbage and at a glance it looks like a collection of stool samples. Keep reading, keep hoping, and maybe Uber will make you love something. Ubersite is the reason I'm still going to be a writer some day (even if it's not for a while, I'm still a lousy grammarian/artist... but I have ideas). Uber is all about ideas.

In other words, the people who get good ratings aren't getting them for no reason. Its not like everyone here just randomly agreed one day to give certain people +2 and others -2. Instead, general trends in writing led to that situation. So, if other authors weren't better than you, they wouldn't get consistently better ratings. Does that make sense?
