Hey,
It's been a while since I've ventured to this corner of the internet. Now that I've quit my job, I'm trying to restart writing fiction again, and I was looking at the old Ubermadness titles for some inspiration. Ubersite doesn't seem to have changed too much; if anything, it's less active than it was in 2004/2005. People have been saying that for years though, I won't be a voice of doom. (Also, I see Ubermadness has not made a return since the shitshow three years ago (holy fuck that was three years ago))
It's been a weird and amazing year, in so many ways. I could write for what feels like decades about the changes I've been through, the person I've become, and the people who I've met and loved in my first year living in Washington DC. I've spent my summer working as a pizza delivery driver in inner city Hudson County New Jersey, where you constantly see fucked up and crazy shit happen every single day. After a schedule of 12 hour days 6 days a week for two months, I feel like an adult, in the good ways and the bad. At least I appreciate the free time I do have, but it's tough to maintain that kind of schedule.
I'm going back to DC now in four days, and I can't believe it's been a year since I left. It's the longest year I've ever known...I've left home, left my friends and family and went alone into the most surreal of places - thousands of teenagers living by themselves with no supervision. I've met politicians, met amazing friends, met a guy who was shot 13 times and lived, met the most innocent and sheltered of college students and other students who were involved in organized crime since they were 13, I've seen people flourish in college, and I've seen people completely self-destruct in college, I've protested, I visited the South for the first time, I was pierced, I was mugged, I gained a new understanding of love, I was more independent than any time before, and I've gained an incredible new understanding of the world we live in. I also discovered a ton of music (entirely true college kid cliche) and have to recommend Colour Haze to everyone I know.
Well let me just shout out to the interesting people I remember from back in the day - Circe, Kaos-King, Apollo, Jack McCallum, TheCaes, Badassmofo, Shlongy, Ghola, taste of monkeys, Sacrilicious, Orgasmatron, Brdn-naked (however he spelled it), Method and Squattail, if they're still around at all. And damn, I can't remember anymore really.
Anyway, peace and love to all of you, especially the old crowd. At one time in my life I was really into ubersite, and I hope during that time I made some people smile.
