Hey I'll bite and say I like, even if it's not ender ala' "Ender's Game" and just ender as in you will end people at video games or something. If people think this looks crazy they should see the "READ MORE" my ladyfriend has tatooed across her knuckles.

The bandwagon this inspired is worth the +2

I have no words upon my person. My first was highly visible on the forearm. Everyone thought I'd regret it, but I get compliments like it's going out of style. Even stodgey old people like my tattoo. Even my 50-something Jewish harpy boss (who is not as sinister in real life as in my nightmares).

one of the chicks getting me my coffee this morning had a tattoo on the back of her neck. it looked like it was done in that classic ghetto script and seemed like it would be one of those memorial or random words of wisdom that appear in glittered myspace graphics a lot or maybe the name of her illegitimate child. i thought, wow, back of the neck, nice target, thanks for mixing a little WT into the fake new england charm.

now i feel bad about thinking that about neck tats :(

I re-read Ender's Game on the flight to China a few weeks ago. It was just as good as I remember.

I got through all of Bean's saga and really enjoyed it, but it was awhile go so I decided to re-read the original and go through Ender's saga, something I never managed to do.

As far as Bean/Ender, I enjoy Ender from his perspective i.e. Ender's Game, but I think if I were to have known him in person I wouldn't have liked him very much. The last chapter, the whole "Speaker for the Dead" thing, was kinda lame and hurried IMO.

Bean kicked everyone's ass, but if I remember correctly didn't his head grow to be like 1/3 of his body?

Bean was to altruistic, Ender wasn't immune from repeating his mistakes. That makes Ender a more real character, thus making him more likable.

Ender could be arrogant, selfish, petulant, rebellious, and childish; even as an adult.

Bean was so 2-dimensional; he lived his life accepting the idea that he was the most intelligent person in the world, so he was happy to live behind the scenes and let everyone else take all the credit. But that is such a sham, nobody would ever behave like that.
---
It's been a while since I read it, but I remember him being very unhappy living behind the scenes, letting everyone else take the credit. Particularly ender. He did it, but he struggled with it.
---------------------------------
I remember him chafing because Ender was being mean to him, but then he decided that he would prop Ender up and let him take all the credit because Bean couldn't inspire the others. But, it has been a while since I've read them as well. Maybe my interpretation of him will have changed.

Saw a guy on a bitch bike the other day. His shirt was flapping up in the wind as they are prone to do on bitch bikes. He had a tat on the small of his back. Yes you read that right HE had a tat on the small of HIS back. I guess it was so his boyfriend had something to look at. As thoe guys who ride bitch bikes tend to have boyfriends.

And I prefer buggers ender.
Actually, I prefer bean to ender.

WHAT? Bean? Are you fucking serious? You have about 30 seconds to change your tune before I lose my cool. I'll fly to your town, get you drunk, and then make sex to you while maintaining awkward eye contact, and THAT'LL RUIN YOUR DAY. Trust me.

Really. Bean was brilliant. And more flawed (physically/emotionally). So more likable.

Just kidding, but Card sounds like a real tool. Of course, Burgess was a tool, too. And Evelyn Waugh was a massive tool, and I still want to be him when I grow up, without all that writing, I mean. Just the booze and the irascibility. That would be awesome.
