In the middle of the global financial crisis I often dream about having a nice house with a garage full of dream cars.
As I am a bit of a nerd however I feel guilty over having daydreams about spending obscene amounts of cash on cars that will rarley be driven. So I always set myself a budget (because only the best daydreams feature quicken) and pick my favourite car for each category. Anyways If I had a million bucks to split amongst ten cars this is what I'd buy tomorrow...

Imports are for faggots.
-----
...and you drive a [what]? Also: pics or you lie.
-----
I drive a 2008 Dodge Charger SRT-8 426 built by Inertia Motorsports. About 580HP/600ft.lbs and it needs a retune. Supercharger will put it around 800-950HP. They are nice cars but spending 1M on a bunch of imports makes babies cry.
And before one of you smart-asses mouthes off: I know, the engine is made is Canada, trans in Germany, and the suspension comes from Mercedes-Benz E-Class. But its still an American company....
__________________________
You genius, going by that logic any of the cars above are american too, if the company that imports them is American or if the fuel is purchased from an American gas station.
In any case, you lie. Next time relax and remember its just the internet.

As I said before, pics or you lie. Pic with the car and some indication that you took it for proof. Maybe a sign that says "Fuck you skrapmetal! Love, ordinarywater281" or something. Put the pic on some hosting site or make a post out of it (I'll +2 it if it's a post). Go on, do it.

WTF, I'll play.
1) Token entry - Monster Truck. You can build it any way you want, but in my 5 minute research, you can get the wheels, body, roll cage and all the other main parts etc for $100,000. But a decent show performance engine is $40,000. They are high maintenance, but fuck yeah, you'd never have problems parking at Tesco again.
Running total $140,000
7) Sensible car - VW Passat TDI. I know, I know, it's ghastly, but for trips and and down the M4 (which most of my out of town driving consists of) it's the mutt's nuts, for fuel, comfort etc. 17k in english money, so I'll guess that at about 30ish in USD.
RT $455k
8) Radio controlled car - Team Associated Nitro TC3. An RC car that does 134mph! When I was a kid, I used to set up a ramp consisting of some ply-wood and an old milk-crate. I used to race my little replica Metro 6R4 down the street and see how far I could make the bastard jump. I would have hours of fun doing the same with this baby. I think I could land it in Mrs Jones back garden. And that's in the next county. $300.
RT $455,300
10) British car that's better than anything America can offer - Aston Martin DB9 with all the trimmings $200k
RT $765,300

Running total $140,000
2) Motorcycle - Harley Davidson Chopper. Can be obtained, and restored and tuned to immaculate perfection for about $25,000
RT - $165,000
3) Supercar - I'd go for a Lamborghini Diablo over the more recent models. Varies in price between 100 and 200k, depending where you look so I'll go for a happy medium of $150,000.
RT - £315,000
4) Bling - An Escolade, just so I can roll thru da hood with ma spinners, blaring rap music at a stupid volume, just to see if it makes me feel like a big an idiot as people who do this in these cars look. $50,000
RT - $365k
5) Import - I'll take a skyline over a scooby or an evo. Used, I've just found loads you can pick up for <10k, but hell, lets say 30k on mods and upgrades for a decently tuned one.
RT - $405k
6) Investment car - Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. I know someone who owns one, and makes more money a year hiring it out for weddings etc than he does from his day job. $20,000.
RT - $425k
7) Sensible car - VW Passat TDI. I know, I know, it's ghastly, but for trips and and down the M4 (which most of my out of town driving consists of) it's the mutt's nuts, for fuel, comfort etc. 17k in english money, so I'll guess that at about 30ish in USD.

RT $455,300
9) Just because I fucking want one car - Porsche 911 GT3. Vrrmmmmm, crash, bye-bye no claims bonus. It was fun while it lasted, and worth the $110,000
RT $565,300
10) British car that's better than anything America can offer - Aston Martin DB9 with all the trimmings $200k
RT $765,300
And with the change I would buy all manner of James Bonds gadgets to kit out the DB9 and take over the world.

I love public transportation. I drive 30 minutes to the Metro, then 45 min into DC. Walk 10 min to work. Helluva lot better than driving 2+ hours through DC traffic anyday.
===
it takes me a lot longer to use the bus than it would to take a car. there's not much traffic here.
but when i hop on a bus, my day is immediatly over. it wouldn't be if i had to drive. i live downtown and parking is a pain in the ass. plus having a car here in our loooong winter fucking sux. almost every time you have to take out the snow broom, then sit in your freezing car who won't heat for 10 minutes and be among assholes who don't know how to drive in those conditions.
i rent cars on the weekend if i have to leave town. i get bored with the same car after two days. i can't imagine myself owning one for years.

I saw a Lamborghini yesterday, the douche who drovei t parked in front of the store I work in and left his funny side-swinging door wide open. It had a spoiler on the back and I suspect he left the keys in because once he'd folded himself back into the car the amount of time before he drove away again was very very small.
I should have stolen it.

i could afford a car or even two. using public transport is a personal choice, a choice that more and more people with half a brain make.
regardless, that still doesn't make muscle cars any better. with all the technologies available today, muscle cars are pretty much the technilogical equivalent of a lawn mower.
