Progress, yeah, we've progressed MUCH farther into debt then ever before, thanks. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, but I hear we DOUBLED our debt almost overnight. Americans need to be educated on a few things. If you have a choice between a retard and an asshole, who do yo hang out with? I choose the retard. McCain or Obama? McCain. I really can't fathom what goes through a democrats mind. Is it good intentions? Really how can taking money from the middle class working americans and giving it to people who don't earn a cent because they are too lazy to go to McDonalds and fill out an application be a good thing? Why help those people a damn bit? It's America, land of the free, not land of the people who don't earn their shit.
Sorry if this just seems like an angry rant, but it is.

Robbie - I didn't forget your opinion that Bush started the war. It is just an opinion, you know, and I don't think it's supported by all the facts. It's my opinion that had terrorists not attacked us on US soil, we would not be at war now. I place the war's existence on the shoulders of those that attacked us on US soil. Because I've seen you do it in the past I know that you will now argue that the war is directed at the wrong targets. I agree to a limited extent. That doesn't change what events actually set the war machine into motion.

I'm tired of the loony ass conspiracy theories. They are overdue for the dustbin of history having been discredited time and tim again. I depsised the awful Buch/Cheney regime, but they did not set up the WTC attack. Ron Paul is a tard, too, and would be a steaming turd of a President.
Skrap is right that the terrorist events (done by actual Islamic terrorists) set the chain of events in motion to start the War in Iraq, but it was a convenient pretext for them to do something they had wanted to do for years. That doesn't mean they orchestrated the WTC attack; they took advantage of it, and that is bad enough in my view.
Even Fox News does not espouse theories like this.

Meanwhile, the dems seem to be doing everything they can to make the Americans at home as broke and dependant upon the government as possible. I suspect they have as a model the Greek Democratic Ideal wherein every citizen was afforded freedom and the ability to say and do as they pleased within the laws of the land, and had a place to live and food to eat. Every citizen, that was, not every person. The other 70% of the population, which were of course the slaves, existed only to serve the citizens.

... except by helping the moron who bought the mortgage he couldn't afford, you help the douchebag lender who knowingly sold the moron the mortgage he couldn't afford. The douchebag lender holds the purse strings on a slew of businesses, who, without funds, would have to layoff workers, force paycuts, or shut their doors. This is not to say that we SHOULD be interfering with the market forces, but it's a hell of a lot more complicated than the idiotically simple "they should just apply at McDonalds" analogy you're spinning.
In my somewhat limited opinion, this entire mess is a result of laissez-faire run stupidly amok. We encouraged banks to do things that were outright stupid. We subsidized businesses that outsourced our jobs. We paid the CEO's and VP's and executives to make decisions that any second grader could have told us were suicidal, and we've been doing it for years.
How in the hell do you think we're going to pull out of that kind of mess? Do you think it's going to be simple? The single factor that saved America from the colonial period up to this point in time (production), is just about spent. We've fucked out national image through wars a retarded ape could have told us were bullshit, and we're living on Chinese debt. McCain/Bimbo would have been in the same boat as Obama/Old Dude, and they'd likely be doing the same thing.
There are a lot of things that aren't going to do shit for our country right now. Partisan bickering is one of them.

Skrappy- What you seem to conveniently forget is that Bush's administration is responsible for the Iraq war. When the war machine first started rolling, and Colin Powell was in front of the UN giving his little song and dance - I said this war was bullshit, and as it turns out: it was. The war IS Bush's fault. All of the costs associated with the maintenance of the war are on Bush.
And guess what? The whole lack of government interference shtick that is the core of the republican doctrine is the biggest contributor to your country's current state of fuckery. So while not specifically on Bush, his administration enabled all those greedy fat-cat fuckers to run rampant with minimal regulation.
So while I do agree that Bailing out companies in a free market is pathetic - Obama and his administration are just reacting to a giant pile of shit inherited from Bushco.

Caul - you're not saying anything I don't already know. All politicians lie. All of them have their own agendas and their friend's agendas and their party's agendas and many, many more agendas that take precedence over the wishes of the mere constituency. I don't like any of the current officeholders, and I didn't like any of the options we had last election, and I won't like any of the options we will have in 2010 or 2012. I have seen American federal-level elections as a choice between fools lying for my vote for a long time now.

republicans broke record deficits year after year. the numbers far surpass the official cost of the "global war on terror" and these happened during relatively good economic times.
obama and dems inherited a tanking economy and somehow they're supposed to perform better?
fact is, regardless of parties or leadership, most western economies have structural problems and are in deep trouble. i'm not sure how or if this can be fixed but one thing is for sure, the most profitable action to take politically is to postpone the problem by throwing money at it.
we deserve our leaders. look at how most people use way too much credit, it's not very surprising our govt does the same. doesn't have anything to do with party or some negro president.

I said before the election that if Obama got into office the finances of the country would be in financial ruins before a year was out. It's not even 6 months and here we are. Rob_Berg can say that the Dems would never have spent like this if Bush hadn't started it but the history of the Dems shouts that the opposite is true. Bush spent a lot of money in the 8 years he was in office, especially in the last 4. There's a war on, whether Rob_Berg likes it/agrees with it or not, and the war costs money. If there wasn't a war on there would not have been the spending and everyone would have had to find another reason to hate him. Here's the thing: there's still a war on. It still costs money. It's not ending any time soon, even Obama says so. But still he and the Dems spend like there is piles of money just sitting doing nothing. There are no such piles of money. Not a one. In tough times everyone has to reduce their spending. I do, Rob_Berg does, we all do. But not, apparently, the government. They spend more and more and faster and faster.
If Obama and the Dems want to keep spending as grossly irresponsibly as they are, I encourage them to pack up the war and end it now. Right the fuck now. Now, today, this very minute. And they can stop giving financial and technological aid to every other country. Then they can spend the war and aid money on the ridiculously excessive new government agencies and ineffective inefficient government programs and promoting dependancy on the bureaucracy in America and they won't have to tax the initiative out of people like me, who want to get ahead far enough to retire before we're too old to enjoy it.
I know I'm wasting my time with this response. It won't change anything. I'm voting against the Dems in 2010. Anything is better than what's going on now.

skrap, it's so obvious that you're a partisan, always crying about obama and making it look like the last 8 years were a great success, like a good FoxNews viewer that you are.
i couldn't give two shits about obama, the guy is just the latest american fad that is already getting old. i don't give a shit about bush either or US politics for that matter...except when you start threatening and invading random countries and putting us all at risk.
but from anyone's POV, it's obvious that regardless of who wins in your two-party system, it will be the same.
stop acting like a sports fan and realize that most govt nowadays, including mine, are just bureaucrats doing whatever is best for them to get elected, often time ignoring their own party's platform. can you honestly call bush's presidency "conservative"? or whatever obama is doing "change"?

Bush didn't do anything bailout-wise except sign a lower cost and more fiscally responsible version of what the Dem-controlled House and Senate really wanted. It wasn't good enough for the greedy lazy portion of them, which is all of them, so now they've got a guy that will open the national wallet and shake it until it's absolutely empty, max out all the credit cards, and then wonder why no one will be his friend any more once the money's gone.

regardless of who is in office, the outcome would've been the same.
politicians look for political gain. don't expect any president to let the economy follow its "natural" course. Bush poured money a lot of money in bailouts as well (aig and fannie&freddy are just two examples) and so did Obama. both dump money into two dumb wars.
both are pretty much the same, except that one is a nigga.

Don't blame the puppet. He was chosen as the next face of the US administration long before a single vote was made.
-----
Already the apologists are coming out of the woodwork.
Obama and his party lied and made ill-informed promises to a large group of mostly politically and scientifically ignorant people to get into office. They cannot make good on what they said they would do and are already backpedaling on every issue as they drive the country toward economic ruin with their uncontrolled spending. Obama is an incompetent leader and an embarassment to my country. It is very clear from his actions in the short time he's been in office that he does not have the interests of the American people foremost in his heart or mind, which is a requirement for the job he has. He and his party need to be voted out as soon as possible for the good of the country and the people.

The outcome is all the same, they just want people like you to have someone to blame, and once enough of you have a big enough problem with him they'll give you another face to blame, they'll even make you think that you chose him as your saviour, rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat, ad infinitum.
New World Order. The faceless leaders that rule the world. There's nothing you can do. You've been their slave your whole life already. No election, rebelion or revolution can fix an ancient invisible problem hiden from everyone for all time.
They feed on your greed and laugh as your struggle to "be number 1" consumes you and enslaves you under their corporate fist.
