I'm about halfway through Busted Flush edited by George RR Martin.

I can explain.

I went out to lunch with some friends of mine. On the way back to the office we stopped by this little express library. I'm not really sure why we were there, but I happened to notice the name George RR Martin on the book and checked it out. Personally I think he needs to get off his ass and publish the next book in his Song of Fire and Ice series. According to his website he has three titles but so far no books. I'm losing patience.

irrelevant yes yes fine

The point is, I checked out this book, started reading it and have no idea what in the hell is going on. Turns out this word "edited" is the key. It means that it's a bunch of chapters written by various people in some series I've never read and I have no idea what's going on. I'm slogging through it finding it good enough to keep going but not good enough to bother going back to the earlier books in the series.

I'm particular about what I read. There are only so many books I'm going to read in my lifetime and quite frankly I'm a slow reader and just can't bring myself to waste my time on a crappy book.

true story

So in conclusion while I can't give any glowing recommendations for this particular book, I do recommend The Other by David Guterson and maybe Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski but that one is a bit tough to get through at time.

I was going to attach a picture of the Busted Flush, but went with a picture of my puppy instead.

The two sunny days we get for British summer have passed. That being saidI started at the beginning of Man Booker prize winners about two months ago. I'm up to Schindler's Ark (1982) which I've read before but I'd forgotten most of.

I've got to admit though, I'm thinking of cheating and watching the film; after reading a Rushdie book (Midnight's Children), pretty much everything else is going to be shite.

I'm hoping to get up to the mid 90's by end of July.

Emmision, I'm going to wade through that post.

I'm afraid that flying dog has been fixed. Oddly enough we were contractually obligated to do that because the breeder where we got him is a little nutty about her Aussie Bene Gesserite breeding program. He's a companion dog. One that is at this moment eluding capture from Sam who is trying to convince him that it is time to stop getting valuable treasure out of the recycling bin and go to bed. Ok he's dropped the G2 bottle and is running up and down the hall with a squeaky plush yellow star that he won in puppy school.

He ruled puppy school. It made me look like a really good dog trainer but really it's just that Aussies are really smart and will do anything for a hotdog.

Maddog, can Max catch a Frisbee? We're working on that. He's been fetching them since he was a baby but has only actually caught it in flight a couple of times. I fear that the problem is...me. I can throw a normal Frisbee just fine, but this is a Kong Frisbee designed not to be indestructible and also not hurt his teeth.

"Stranger Than Fiction" by Chuck Palahniuk. It's a collection of true stories from Chuck's life with his commentary.
------------------------

I'm about halfway through "Choke". I've also been reading a lot of cookbooks, and books about art (my current fave is "Cartoon Modern", an out-of-print book about 1950's commercial illustration).

+2 flying puppy

I just started reading L'Étranger by Camus..I found a brand new copy in my house..i didn't even know i owned it, in french no less.

---

That book is best experienced in one sitting because it's only about 100 pages or something and when you're done you'll be drained emotionally. It sounds like you've already fucked this up though.

I tend to read anything and everything. Today I'm reading medical reports about my wife, who just had a knee replacement. Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

PS: Fuck Doodles and Shlongy. They are worthless assholes.
