they lived (and many still do) in the Maritimes, which weren't even part of Canada back then, and were deported out by the british themselves to lousiana (not driven out) whereas french-canadians (quebecers) were given the rights to keep their land, language and religion. i guess quick surrender does have its advantages :-)
acadians put up a lot of resistance, considering their numbers, and were basically abandonned by french-canada (quebec).
the few that remains today cannot speak french or english properly and are kind of the laughingstock of the rest of french-canada and neither do they not seem to be anglos' favourites.
their story is kinda sad. at least they're not in louisiana where they'd be black and george bush wouldn't care about them. :°(

A lot of the foods that U.S. blacks are traditionally connected to originate in the Southern states. I think they'll fry pretty much anything down there. Plus what indoninja said, some of it is left over from slave days and just being dirt-poor (using the leftover animal parts, etc.).
I was recently reading about Cajun(Acadian)history and the combination of cultures and foods that came from that. Caul probably knows this, but many of those folks were French settlers who came from his part of Canada. They were driven out by England in the late 1700's and eventually settled in southern Louisiana, which at the time was owned by France. True Cajuns are descendants of those French-Canadian refugees, but many have Spanish, Italian, Cuban, Haitian, Mexican, South American, and former slave ancestors. These all combined to make for some spicy, delicious, and sometimes disgusting foods!

Now they can go on believing what they're told without question because it's a 'crisis' and an 'emergency' and the government knows what is best for everyone in this situation. I am reading and researching, and I do not like what I am finding. Obama and the Democrats are destroying a lot of what I hold dear about America and I disapprove. There, I said it. He holds himself out as today's FDR, but don't you compare them for real. I will, though. He and his camp will never tell you that FDR's plan took place when America was a manufacturing economy, unemployment was around 30%, and there wasn't nearly the level of technology we jhave today. The manufacturing base gave the economy the strength to support a one-time spending plan to build infrastructure and make long-term improvements. The jobs it created to put people in were largely jobs like digging ditches and running gravel layers and pouring concrete and doing hard manual labor on TVA projects as part of the infrastructure creation. The unemployed then were more than willing to grab shovels and do that work. These days, "Shovel-ready" means a diesel-powered excavator that takes one man with a lot of training to operate, not 50 guys with strong backs. We are a service economy today. There isn't the manufacturing base to support paying for all the created jobs, so instead of rethinking it, Obama has just debt-funded it. The American unemployed are largely unwilling to do hard manual labor (because if they were willing, there'd be a lot fewer Mexicans hanging around Home Depot) and the increases in welfare benefits will make doing so even less appealing compared to simply staying home and collecting. Current unemployment is around 7%. It's only an unemployment 'crisis' and an 'emergency' because you're told it is by a government who's purpose is served by your believing that. In less than two years perhaps you'll see that this plan has failed. I see it now, but it will be obvious even to you in two years.
For now, they can go on Believing. I prefer to Know. If they want to call that willful ignorance, then so be it.

That's interesting because in a sense it was theft since the good she wished to purchase were not available. Bait and switch perhaps? I mean if you write a check for a sweet Civic si and all they have is an EX, they can't just buy you off with cool floormats because of a no refund policy, can they?
Of course, the woman is a complete idiot so we can't defend her. The store manager should also have been cited for petty theft, though.
