In a lot of ways, this reminds me of Baltimore.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Baltimore, for all of its charms, does not have a robotic police officer.

In a lot of ways, this reminds me of Baltimore.

Except you don't see BELIEVE plastered everywhere.

And we don't have a waterfront shanty town.

We do however have Druid Hill.

It's not nice like it sounds.

Aside from that, the shiny modern buildings juxtaposed against aging burned out slums; looks very familiar.

=========================

B-more is WAY better than the shithole that is detroit, and I left bodymore BECAUSE it was such a shithole.

Detroit should be burned to the ground on national TV during the superbowl halftime show.

The ballpark gave it away?

Not the fact that some of those photographs are obviously at least 10 years old, some were taken in the winter, some in the summer, and the fact that even I wouldn't venture into some of those areas?

I think you should have used at least one picture that you actually snapped instead of using random internet photos. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, not minus rating you, in the possibility that you are too poor to own a camera. What gave it away was the ballpark in which a game hasn't been played in over a month.

hahaha. My ancestry is Irish. Do the Irish typically big snouts?

=====

No, Jews typically have large snouts... Irish people have pointy ears and noses, wear green caps, have ginger hair and run around all day searching for the ever elusive pot of gold they hid at the end of a rainbow on some mad Irish mushroom trip or after 2 weeks of Guiness only sustenance.

Detroit used to be where everything got built. All the cars and trucks and trains built there enabled the manufacturing of everything to be moved away from rivers, and so it became a museum of innovation. Now it's crumbling.

Huh, we have a Fox Theater as well, I've never actually been inside it though.

Detroit seems pretty unimpressive, but I probably shouldn't judge it based on these pictures alone.

Oh well.

Never been to Detroit. Been *through* Detroit, but not *to* Detroit. I've been to Flint and Saugatuk, or however the fuck you spell it. And a former cousin-in-law lived...maybe still lives...in the UP. He had...maybe still has...really bad psoriasis...or however the fuck you spell it. Yeah. I always believed that KISS really sucks. Man, what a horrid "band." Awful. Just awful.

It gets a lot better once you're in the non-Detroit areas just outside of the city, the independent suburbs and such. Royal Oak and Birmingham are particularly nice, and Ann Arbor is only a short drive away. Although the city itself has a certain charm...in areas...in the daylight.

Well that makes sense I guess.

I live in Ann Arbor which is about 35-40 miles from Detroit. When I was married I lived out in the farming communities. People from Detroit would come out there to dump bodies on occassion, thinking they were out in the wilderness.

Despite that I've been to Detroit a million billion times and regardless of it's horrible reputation, nothing worse than panhandlers harassing me has ever happened.

Trip: Aw, wake up Lex! We just watched Jam's mom torch our fucking KISS tickets man! Not REO Speedwagon, not Journey, not The Bay City Rollers. KISS, man! If you can think of a better reason to trash a girl's bathroom I'd sure like to hear it.

Is the boarded up castle looking building from the movie about the basket ball kid with the old james bond guy and the kid can actually spell his name so he's a star and goes to the school for smart people? I think it was called Forest Blacula or maybe Hemmingway Gump-roy?

At first glance I thought "this old fuck is just going to show me some pictures of the historic section of the city and narrate through...oh great look at that<-(in a high pitch aggrivated tone pointing a flat, sideways, hand at the monitor), he even used the exact words from some pamphlet he got in his hotels' lobby! What a scummy puss sucker!" And on and on and on and on, kind of like that song Don't Stop Believin by Journey which, coincidently enough, has a Detroit reference in it.

ANYWAY~ I did like the pictures from needle and BEYOND...so plus 2 FFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAG!
