looking at americas problems one stands out among many... the legalization of marijuana... well probably not, but I'm new to the site and I wanted to post something. I do think it is an issue but probably not even on anyones radar with somemany other problems and most politicians want to stay away from it. I think its goods out way it's bads: 1 it's not habit forming like tabacco or alcohol, 2 it is pouring money into organized crime, 3 we could be collecting taxes on it and it could be funding a new legitimate industry, 4 we could legally improve it, study it and make it safer 5 drug dealers are so god damn hard to deal with. number 5 is pretty much the reason I'm wasting your time writing about this, I tried to think of some really insightful thing to make my first post about but my mind was too full of frustration to concentrate because I have been having so much trouble with my multiple dealers, this weekend i arranged to buy a big bag but the guy dropped it while running from the cops. and then another dealer decided to stop selling to me and reffered me to another guy but when i called him he denied being a dealer

3 we could be collecting taxes on it and it could be funding a new legitimate industry,

One of the biggest misconceptions is that if it were legal it could be taxed. BUT...if it is no longer illegal to posses, then why would you go to 7/11 to buy weed and pay taxes on it when you could still buy it from Tommy tax free? Don't tell me you would actually WANT to pay a tax if you could avoid it.
------
because like all agriculture that has practical uses (hemp) the pot farmers could get government subsidies for crops. government funding would necessitate tax.
--------
I understand that, but what would compel anyone to buy the taxed pot fromt he store rather than the free stuff on the streets?
for the same reason its illegal to make your own whiskey etc.
it would be legal to buy and smoke but not grow without a license. if the weed was good enough, most people would save the hassle and go to the store.
How many people buy moonshine now all these years after prohibition?

Its not as if it had to be processed like tobacco or alcohol. You can grow it yourself, so long as you don't try to sell it you would not break any laws. And they would have to prove you are selling and NOT paying taxes. Like making your own beer or moonshine, you can make it for personal consumption but not to sell unless you are a business and pay taxes.

Obviously you write how you speak and it must be terribly difficult to speak properly with your grandpa's cock crammed so deep into your mouth. I mean, sucking off the elderly is sick enough, but only a real degenerate gets aroused by incest. That being said... NO, I won't let you call me "Pappy," you twisted lil' fucktard.
see?

you can hope all you want it doesn't change the fact that you can't overdose on weed. just one more reason it should be more accepted in society than alcohol, you can die of alcohol poisoning but you can't OD on the ganj

Personally, I want any & all churches taxed. Heavily. Yes MJ should be legalized, but we have a cash cow just waiting to be milked in this country`s churches. Fuck religion. Just because we have freedom of religion doesn`t mean we can`t tax the shit out of them. ~Signed, a secular humanist who is fed up to her teeth.

Hardly the single greatest issue facing us, but it would be huge. The money the gov't. would save in its lost cause enforcement, the tax money it could make...
