Global warming is something I look forward to. Too bad it is 100% politically-driven bullshit.

Now the question is, who will be the first to say "Global cooling means global warming - it is called climate change!" That term always makes me laugh. Climate change happens damn near every day of the year in most of the world. But you won't see me with a large wooden sign on, ringing a bell, and shouting "IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD!"

Anyway, some of you global warming fuckers should help me dig my car out so I can go to Woodman's (grocery store) so I can pick up a case of beer. The only thing this white shit is good for is keeping those wonderful beverages nice and cold.... Oh, and the humorous articles where people fall through some ice and drown .....and some kick-ass snowmobile accidents.

Although I can't sympathise with you, I so fucking sunburnt right now that I've had to go into work with no bra on because of the pain it causes me when it's on.

using coal as a fuel source is incredibly filthy and creates tons of pollution. i actually work on a project for the gov't that is trying to clean up the process of using coal as a fuel resource. the nazi's originally developed the method that we're trying to perfect in ww2. coal can be used right now, but it's far from economical or beneficial compared to renewable energy.

"over-priced" renewable energy like solar panels, wind turbines, and geothermal heating/cooling have a simple payback of like 5 years and are hardly over-priced. you can power your home with renewable energy power sources without breaking your wallet and it pays off in the long run.

You're still missing the point. Lets say Global Warming is fake. The message is to switch to renewable energy. You can argue global warming all you like, but the bottom line is that the end result is switching to all renewable energy resources.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have enough coal for many, many years (250 years last I saw). We don't have to switch to over-priced "renewable" sources any time soon. Technologies in 100 years may be a lot better than now...History says so.

Instead, nutty environmentalists want to trick the public into thinking that future technologies are "now" when they are still in a early developmental phase...a phase mostly paid for by taxpayers after several other failed programs.

The government mandating renewable energies that cost 10X as much is some serious bullshit. Can the poor afford those bills at 10X the cost? Probably not, so then the taxpayers take a double hit. Subsidize renewable energy and then subsidize the bills to the poor.

If you can upgrade smartly, that is good business for everyone. Are we willing to go 100% nuclear? If not, we aren't making a real commitment to stop CO2 gases. Of course, methane is worse so next we have to force red meat off the menu.

Coyote is awfully testy today.
-=-=-=-=-

This whole post is testy... I realize you'd be much more comfortable if everyone just nodded politely and smiled when you made misinformed or misleading statements, but I think it's only fair to point out when people make mistakes, especially when they do it in a smug or condescending way.

CO2 can't be a pollutant because it comes out of our bodies? Please.

-=-=-=-=-
We are all tards to think that todays "average global temperature" is what the world is supposed to be and any deviation from that is irreversible warming.
-=-=-=-=-

Nobody credible is claiming either one of those things. The debate is on timescales, economic consequences, and mitigation options.

-=-=-=-=-
Take a physics class. Take a geology class. The glaciers came, they went, they came, they went, they came, they went.......and it wasn't because the Mastadons belched too much methane or because Grog burned too many fires.
-=-=-=-=-

Apparently you're a bit confused about the difference between saying "human activity can have an influence on the climate" and "human activity is the ONLY influence on climate". You also don't seem to get the difference between a few thousand people suddenly releasing the CO2 that had been stored for at most a hundred years and a few billion people releasing all the CO2 that had been stored for tens of millions of years.

Maybe you're the one who should be taking a physics class. I'll tell you what, you can take one of the ones I teach. I'll be interested to see how you do.

-=-=-=-=-
We didn't start it and we sure as hell can't stop it.
-=-=-=-=-

Ah, fatalism. Tell me, does adopting a pose of helplessness in the face of change come naturally to you, or did you have to learn it?

Change is constant. We can either adapt to it and do what we can to turn it to our advantage, or we can stick our heads in the sand and hope for things to turn out for the best. Just because you can put blinders on and pretend that your actions don't have consequences don't make it so.

You'll never convince me that man-caused 'global warming' is anything but a myth that uses the available knowledge to try to explain things that are beyond the available knowledge. Storms used to be caused by the gods. Earthquakes too. Everything was caused by the gods. Some of that stuff has been explained but not all of it, and your 'global warming' simply remains unexplained by real science because we humans don't have the real science yet to explain why the earth's surface temperature changes. At best you can apply models that yield results consistent with the recent recorded changes in temperature but those same models, run into the past, will either show the planet cooling to a uniform temperature a few degrees cooler than current or getting perpetually cooler and eventually freezing solid. Since through the real science we have we know that neither of conditions actually existed, *pause for emphasis* your models are wrong. Simple as that. You're basing your beliefs on proven-incorrect assumptions. Your models are wrong, so your theory needs to be rethought. Scientific method: try it some time.

Most people think Volcanoes are emitting CO2 which is the cause for "Global Warming." They are semi right. The fact of the matter is, the hole in the ozone layer had shrunk to a relatively small size and is now being increased due to human intervention. CO2 emitted by our cars and power plants (the big causes) are increasing the rate at which the ozone hole would naturally open up at. Therefor, the earth is in a warming cycle but due to human intervention the rate at which the earth is heating up is much greater than what it should be, historically speaking.

The bottom line is that it's ignorant to just disbelieve in global warming and ignoring the main message. Renewable energy is the future. Whether global warming is real or not, the main message is to switch to renewable energy resources, which is a good thing for everyone. Solar panels, wind turbines, geothermal heating/cooling, etc...

How can renewable energy be a bad thing?

Ever hear about the Anasazi? They certainly didn't have Hummer H2's to blame for their woes, eh?

Instead of some slick talking scientist conspiring with a shitbag politician, they probably had a medicine-man or tribal elder telling you what was causing the weather to suck.

Is the earth getting warmer? I wouldn't dispute that. But I also won't say it is us that caused it and it certainly won't be us to fix it.

Let's have a nuclear war if one is so concerned about becoming the next Mars or Mercury. Which does remind me, why is Mars also getting warmer? The rovers?

Wheras I agree that politics has hijacked the climate change debate and turned it into an "issue", its still happening.
Whether or not its actually going to do any long term harm remains to be seen since we're in an unusually warm period for the Earth anyways.
Neverthelss I dont think we should wantonly add to the problem on the off chance that all the disaster-mongers are just frothing at the brain, theres no sense in that. Thats like drink driving simply because you might not crash
