I've been up all night and despite being tired I just can't seem to fall asleep. And nope, I haven't done anything that might keep me up all night.
So, I've watched two hours of MSNBC Investigates and two hours of The History Channel and so now I'm bored and want to vent.
Lockup - Those guys in prison are pumped up. I never realized that gangs on the inside, communicate to their 'brother's' on the outside. They coordinate and organize fights and murders, from inside prison, to members not locked up. They send out letters in cryptic tongue that only members of their gang can interpret. This was complete news to me. And why on earth are gangs still in existence? These are grown men, some well into their forties and fifties who are still gang members. Are they missing a switch or something? One would think that adult men would recognize that this is just childish behavior and that they need to grow up.
I thought all that gang nonsense ended in the mid-nineties? And why are the men and woman serving time in prison so proud of their gang member status? To quote my stepsons "that's gay". What fucking idiots. Get an education while you're in jail and do something productive other than making contraband out of toothbrushes and bubble gum.
To Catch a Predator - As I'm sure most of you know this show is an ongoing hidden camera investigation into computer sex predators -- grown men trolling the Web for young teenagers. Chris Hanson an MSNBC journalist has put his name on the map with these investigations. He and the Perverted Justice team, travel to different locations within the USA luring men from all walks of life, to then bust them for sexually explicit online chat with adult women posing as 14 year olds.
Now, I realize this is entrapment but quite frankly if men are willing to meet at some "underage" child's house, they deserve getting busted and I don't feel bad for them at all. The best part of the show, and like clockwork is when the predators tell Chris, "....No, umm....this is my first time doing something like this. I've...never done this before and I've seriously learned my lesson." HA! Dumbasses. Don't they watch television? I think it is FUCKING hilarious.
Men from all walks of life show up and right off the bat start lying to Mr. Hanson about the chat log. Then Chris reads the log verbatim and that's when the show gets really good. These guys will use every excuse in the book to try to weasel out of getting busted. "I wanted to come over and be her friend and to tell her how dangerous it is to meet men from online. I just wanted to protect her and be a friend.
Suuuure. And do you always travel with an unopened box of condoms and a twelve pack? Dipshits. Some of these dudes have even appeared TWICE. They got busted on the same television show, twice. How pathetic.
The predators can leave at any point in time, however cops are waiting outside to arrest, stuff and cuff these men. This show is high entertainment.
UFO Files - Anything dealing with UFO's or Aliens scares me beyond belief. Scientifically it is impossible for there not to be other life forms out there and that is some freaky-deaky shit. There have been thousands of UFO sightings all over the world.
One Ufologist said that these aliens tend to abduct pregnant women to take their babies for scientific studies or to create Hybrid life forms.
An interviewed female who claims to have been abducted, states that aliens took her unborn baby. As a result she suffered a miscarriage but that she didn't experience the usual symptoms that coincide with such a loss. Her body never secreted any fluids.
Some Ufologists claim aliens abduct men to extract their semen and women - not pregnant for their eggs.
The first alien abductions - Betty and Barney Hill describe in detail their ordeal and tour of the UFO. Betty claims to have asked the aliens where they came from and they pointed to a location on a map. A few years later Betty draws a map of the location which hadn't even been discovered - Zeta Reticuli, some million light years away. In any case, in her last interview, while on her death bead, on said program she affirms the story of alien probing, skin samples and egg theft. Both she and her husband allege to have lost two hours of unaccounted for time.
Another hypothesis is that these "alien abductions" are nothing more than sleep paralysis which is something I've experienced and written about in the past.

Sleep paralysis is really very scary. You're brain is awake, but your body is still paralyzed from REM sleep. Lying in a comatose state and completely aware of your surroundings you're powerless. You can't move or speak or cry out. The body tingles and there are weird sounds all around. When I experienced this it lasted only seconds, but felt like hours.
In any case, to believe or not to believe. That is the question. I can say this, very good friends of mine and my family, who are down to earth, church going people, swear up and down that while driving through New Hampshire some years back, they saw a UFO. This is interesting because around that same time, Betty and Barney Hill were also driving through New Hampshire and were allegedly abducted.
And what about Area 51 and a government cover up of sorts? There is no way that the government can attest to UFO crashes or illegal aliens if you will. Hello? Mass hysteria. Apparently at one military base there was a UFO sighting. Several different people claim to have seen some object which appeared to be floating several hundred feet up. What is really weird is that while this object was lingering about, all the computers and missiles, which were all on different systems, simultaneously went offline. Who can say what caused the glitch. What is really frightening to me is, had this shutdown been UFO related it left us completely defenseless.
Teenagers & Modern Communication Tools - This program hit home since I have a teenager in my life and two on the way. Now I know there are many teenagers on this site, but hear me out on this. High school kids along with teachers were interviewed on the use of computers and cell phones and how many have become addicted and spend hours upon hours online chatting with 'friends' and text messaging. As I'm sure you all know, Myspace and Facebook are two of the most popular websites in which teenagers use to interact with peers. At one point even I had a myspace account and did the same.
On these sites, teenagers can post pictures and personal information about themselves for anyone to read. Sure I've posted personal information and stories about my life on this site. I've posted pictures all about my life and have even met several people from Uber. That being said, I'm not a teenager trying to be sneaky and I've never gone to meet anyone from any website alone.
Kids are easily flattered by unsolicited advances and often after "meeting friends" online, and have "connected" make the wrong decisions. I can say that my opinions about these websites have changed drastically since becoming a step parent. It is very scary what kids can access in an instant online.
Most parents are naïve with regard to their children's use of the internet. Kids have their own passwords to their accounts and nine times out of ten are not giving their parents them. Their webpage is their little fantasy world where they can be anyone and anyway they want to be.
One family that was interviewed on this program lost their son to suicide due to online bullying. Apparently he'd been visiting a suicide surveying website. This website asked questions about personalities, likes and dislikes and when tallied up and based on answers provided, gave the best way to commit suicide. He'd been chatting up with others who were also planning on killing themselves. The day that he ended his life he IMed another member of the website and he gave him "props" for finally doin' it.
A fifteen year old anorexic girl was a member of a pro-anorexia website offering tips on how to binge and purge on the "right" foods. Other females and even some males provide support and encouragement in support of NOT eating. This is horrible that children can access these types of websites and without parents knowing anything about it.
Educators that have been teaching for decades stated that over the years there has been a rapid decline in student's concentration and grades. Kids today are looking for the quick and easy way to access information. They use the internet to plagiarize papers, post essay and exam questions for other students. They take pictures of the tests with their cell phones and post this information or they send via text messaging. When I was growing up we managed just fine without cell phones so why do kids today need them in school?
Kids don't read books anymore. They read summaries of required readings online and look for the easy way out.
Basically all this wonderful modern day technology is doing nothing but teaching kids to be dumb. The other day I was reading an essay that the oldest boy wrote for his English class and he actually used the word "gonna" instead of going to. Now I know I'm not English teacher and I often times misspell words. But give me a break. "Gonna?" I believe this stupidity is related to computer lingo that kids use today. I know that using LMAO, LOL, JK, BRB and other acronyms are quicker and easier then having to type the entire phrase, but when this spills over into school work, there is a serious problem.
I really don't want my step children to learn about ways to commit suicide, or how to make bombs out of household products. I don't want them coming across a website that gives detailed instructions on how to commit the perfect crime. This is some scary shit people. And it doesn't matter how good the parental controls are, there are ways around everything and kids know it. And don't even get me started on the lack of good role models for kids today.
Growing up, my parent's weren't my friends. They were my parents. And like kids today, parents take the easy way out too. It's hard to be a good parent. It's easy to throw your hands in the air say nothing and allow kids to do whatever they want. It's easy to give kids everything the want just to shut them up. It's hard to say no because no usually starts fights and pisses teens off and I assure you it isn't easy being around a moody, miserable pissed off teen.
I realize I'm an old fart to the lot of you out there, but the fact that kids today will be our future tomorrow scares me to death. I think society is going down the shitter a little more every single day.
Every generation brings changes and new technology. Kids are always going to be kids and they're going to do what kids do. However when I think back to when I was a teenager life was nowhere near as scary as it is today and I blame the internet and the media. Could it be SATAN?
