He floated peacefully in the interim between sleeping and waking. The warm sun caressed his face and shone through his closed eyes; before his inner eye were red and orange swirls, painstakingly painted on his eyelids.
Something hooked his attention, something important, and he searched for it. The comfortable mists receded as his active pursuit of the sliver of thought drew him out of sleeps domain. He caught the thought and helt it gently as it coalesced into something coherent. Ah, yes... Lily. His Lily, with her bright eyes and soft hair. He would see her today.
He lay still a moment longer, savouring the anticipation, the lift of heart that accompanied the thought of her. He dressed with care, that morning. He chose his attire with a certain shy pride, he was a little lean, perhaps, but certainly not unattractive.
His ritual of dress complete, he applied a light spray of the nicest scent he owned. Running a hand over his stubbled chin, he decided that although he probably should shave, it was of secondary importance. He was already a little later than planned, and though she'd never said so, he liked to imagine that a slight stubble only added to his masculine charm.
He'd have to pick up flowers on the way, he'd thought to do so yesterday but had not had the opportunity. He wondered what she'd be wearing, so he could match the hue of the petals to her garments. Had she missed him as he had her? A sudden, numbing thought; what if she had not? Completely and totally, he put such thoughts aside. A wide smile, unusual but not unwelcome, lit his face as he strode toward their meeting place.
Lily Morgan of the bright eyes blew distractedly at the soft hair which had tangled itself in her eyelashes. She sipped her coffee; always black, always the same café, every Friday morning. She paused, adjusting her portfolio - her name embossed along one side - before pushing her way out of the café into the late Summer stillness.
She met his eyes, and noted, puzzled and slightly discomfited, his smile of pure joy. She registered his ragged clothing, the overwhelming smell of cheap airfreshener and the small bunch of obviously stolen flowers he had in his hands.
Her gaze dropped, her sense of civilian responsibility warring with her personal need to not see, not hear. She made a splitsecond decision and turned on her heel, striding in a businesslike fashion in the wrong direction. Why did that bum always stare at her like that? Every Friday...

I know what you mean though Emission. There's something about American women that makes them very desirable.
I think it's because when I encounter common and/or cheap English women I find them vulgar, but when I encounter common and/or cheap American women I find them novel.

I have never slept with an American women. Kissed yes but slept with, no. When I was in NYC I met a nice Aussie girl instead. The American ladies were a bit too full on for me, flashing boobs at me, buying me drinks and generally slurring every word they spoke..
I think I was the novelty value in NYC which is saying something.
