I just got back from a lovely vacation in Islamorada, Florida. I highly recommend going there if you like fishing and don't mind bikers.
Since I, and the boyfriend, had rented a car, I threw him in the car and drove down to Key West, forcing him to go on a ghost tour with me. He thought it'd be corny, but it turned out to be very fun and interesting. I think most of that had to do with our tour-guide, Nick, as he was an excellent storyteller. He didn't even mind that I was drunk and spent my tour sitting on curbs/sidewalks, drinking beer, smoking cigarettes, and listening to him tell stories.
The Man had brought his high-tech camera for our outing. I warned him that I was no Ansel Adams, and would probably break his camera if left alone with it for any length of time, but he still trusted me to take some pictures. 95% of the pictures turned out horrible. I suck at photography.
The following pictures did come out 1/6th decent though, and had some strange things in them.
The first picture is of some house that some family lived in back in the day, and the kid of the family had this creepy as fuck doll named Robert. Long story short, Robert was possessed and likes to fuck with people.
Side Note: That kid carried Robert around throughout his ENTIRE ADULT LIFE, even taking the doll to college with him and leaving provisions in his will for the doll. He even managed to get married. That just proves that rophynol is a wonderful thing.
As I was going through the pictures, I noticed that it looked like something was in the window (in the first picture), so I inverted and cleared the image and the second picture is what I got. Spooky.
The last three pictures are of an old cemetery where a shipping captain, his daughter, and ten other children are entombed. The captain and his daughter are laid right up next to the church (which is out of sight), but the ten children (who died in a fire) are in this huge L-shaped concrete tomb which has an angel statue on it.
I love sculpture and decided I wanted some closer pictures of the angel, so I went back to the cemetery alone after the tour had ended and took some pictures. Most of the pictures turned out fine, but these three had this white light streaking through them. I think it's interesting that in the second picture you can see through the streak and see there is a definite swirl pattern.
Just a few other things that I saw/learned in Key West cool:
1. A strip club named 'Booby Trap'.
2. Stray chickens meandering on the front lawn of a KFC.
3. You can openly carry booze around on the street.

there is also a naked bar in Key West.
that's right, you can drink naked if you want to. i just hope they disinfect the barstools....
although i don't actually believe in ghosts, i always love to go to places people say are haunted. there's a ton of places like that in San Antonio. then again, it's mostly Mexicans there and they are a superstitious people.

Last weekend I took my photographer (yes, she is MINE until she sets up her own shop) to Virginia to visit the abandoned buildings and such in the lonely developing-all-too-quickly corridor between Fredericksburg and Richmond. We found one place that looked like a house, until I (being the braver of the two in EVERYTHING) opened the door (which was unlocked and partially opened anyway) and went inside.
It was an abandoned church.
From what we could gather, the place had its last funeral service and likely its last actual service in 1968. There was no ventillation, no heat and no air. There was a wood burning stove with a few stray pieces of timber around it, and some paperwork in the back room. All the pews were in line and unmolested- one even had a fan on it left behind by some paritioner, the only real damage was caused by plants growing through a few missing window panes.
The weird thing was, it looked perfect... There was even a Bible open on the pulpit with rotten leather binding, pages intact. It was as though the folks who abandoned the place had every intention of coming back, but didn't, or couldn't.
I really want to know the what happened, especially since from what we could tell it was a black church abandoned during the Civil Rights movement. There's got to be a story there, and I'm going to find it.

No way. I have entirely too much respect for the dead to do that in their final resting place.

They're dead. Why would they care? Is post-mortem lung cancer an epidemic in Florida?

Just for clarification, there was no strap on the camera and that courtyard is completely open. That third picture is supposed to have the angel in the dead center, but that white streak is blocking her out.
I think I'd notice if something was hanging right in the middle of the viewfinder of the camera.

It's not that people dont fake photos all the time but to just automaticaly discount every stange image is being thick headed.
every orb or smoke trail on film is dust or a camera strap?
come on.
I find it harder to believe that every person in the world that has a camera, never cleans the lense or moves the strap out of the way.
besides we have bigger problems
the news reported a meteorite crashing in Peru and the surrounding villagers are now sick.
Here come the zombies.

Key West is only haunted by the Cookie Lady. You must have seen her. She pedals around on her bike selling "special" cookies.

And the Kitten Juggler. And Captain Chrome. Key West is very strange.
They say Robert (who is also said to be the inspiration for Chucky) is often found to have moved in his display case overnight. Thay say that. OOOooooo scary!
Islamadora is a cool spot to go to. The fishermen know where the real Key Lime trees still exist. If you ask (pay) nicely, they will take you there. Glad you and the Man had a good time.

RUN! CAMERA STRAPS!
I despise "ghost" pics. Most of the time, an unbiased observer will see that the "orbs" are dust particles or water droplets and the "ghost" is a camera strap (as seen above).
It boils down to this; if you reall want it to be a ghost, you will see it as a ghost. If you don't believe in ghosts, you will see it for what it most likely is.
The easiest solution is almost always the most logical one.
