Joey - thanks for the support and stuff. Honestly, I was just very tired last night and when I logged on from home (which I rarely do) late evening to check the numbers since it was a close race, I just got crabby and pissy when I really should have just let it go. My apologies to all, including NoMeD/Foolproof for that.
Being an artist, I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve a lot.
And Sac, I agree with your stance that use of reference books should be irrelevant. But Uber will be Uber and as such, the masses have decided our fates. It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, especially considering I likely won't be around here much longer after next week.

Ok, somethings afoot here.
For a start, it appears that I won this round, despite entering a clearly weaker piece (in my opinion, anyway). With all the shenanigans in the first few rounds, this is hardly surprising, but I feel that this isn't right. Realistically, I should have been out ages ago:
In the first round, Foolproof got screwed just because some people don't like him.
In the second round, I go through on a technicality by a matter of seconds.
In the third round, it appears that I only go through because CT is a decent and honest chap. He was truthful, and he said he had looked a few words up - Yet even though he gave a very valid reason for doing so, he's been rated against for this.
What with Shlongy retiring, Merlina and Circe pulling out, and now Coley's retirement, the left hand bracket is looking decidedly tainted, like a pair of white silk panties with a rusty orange skid mark.
Not that it matters, as gofer should annihilate me in R4.
If this had been an anonymous contest, things would be looking a lot different.

Funny you should bring up that particular post...I always fashioned a few of my short stories as better writing. Sure, the namedropping stuff that I did *was* funny at the time, but I've made a choice to steer clear of that from now on, as doing Uber parodies of poems/stories/texts just doesn't pose the challenge/satisfaction that can be derived from an original work.

ALSO, you don't do too stellar of a job defending yourself either, as witnessed by last year's FUPA battle with Nitty/Shlongy. You continually give people ammunition against you.

Meh. A year's passed since then, and I'm comfortable with who I am now, so I see no need to defend myself. Ammunition or none, I don't take Uber seriously anymore...it is, after all, just a website where most of us come to anonymously write and play head games...and personally I'm having a blast with the SUPA games this year.
Life's a lot more fun and interesting when you stop worrying about what others think about you, and instead start focusing on what YOU personally desire and admire about yourself. I take great pride and joy in my musical creations, hence that's what I do the most around here.
But I would be foolish to say that one is not influenced by the emotions and behaviors of his peers. As it pertains to you, what I mean is this:
- I know you're just being yourself (more towards band geek, as you admit),
- but you come off sometimes like you're trying hard to be cool.
And I really only see it when you chime in on conversations that OTHER people are having on here.
ALSO, you don't do too stellar of a job defending yourself either, as witnessed by last year's FUPA battle with Nitty/Shlongy. You continually give people ammunition against you.

Well THAT was certainly out of left field...
...band geek? Admittedly, even at age 30. Trying too hard to be cool? Nada. I just type comments as they come into my head, unfiltered.
I've never claimed to be the best reviewer or writer by any means around here...but once in a while, one comes up with a diamond in the midst of all the coal. Which is basically how I see my posts and comments - mostly typical fare, with the occasional gem.
Nonetheless, I shan't stop working in the mines because of your opinion - in fact, I appreciate the blatant honesty. Inspires me to work harder, ya know?

When I left work yesterday, all was calm and tranquil and serene. All was well in the land of Uber.
I come back in to work today, and the shit has not only hit the fan, but the fan has splattered it all up the new curtains and all over the nice white carpet.
It was only because I was bored as hell that I sat and worked out the 11:59 scores, and then I argued the point because I thought it would cause a bit of controversy, in keeping with the spirit of things.
I never meant to piss anyone off. If I thought this would have happened, I'd have stayed at home and joined in, instead of going to the pub last night and getting trashed.
Actually, no I wouldn't have. But you see what I mean.

Did you count professorfuckface's 0 rating? I didn't (because his ratings don't count).
Uber's calculator doesn't count them either, which shows how my numbers match perfectly with Colchester's "cut & paste".
But even if I had, I would've gotten a 1.126 for Shlongy (66.429 on 59 unique usernames). And that's still not the 1.121 that you got. So I'm not sure why our numbers don't match. Double check yours maybe? (dreadful thought, I know)

So let's see if I get this straight -
If my numbers were right JoeyG advances and Shlongy loses, and because Shlongy lost Circe drops out leaving a free slot that neither Merlina nor beeltea want.
If my numbers were wrong Shlongy advances but has 'retired' and doesn't participate in Round 3, leaving JoeyG to take his spot as the only other choice to advance from the pairing. If so, does Circe still drop out because of no Shlongy face-off, and, if so, do Merlina and beeltea still say no?

I'll say this once, and that's it - I have, in all of these virtual events that I've attempted to host, always deferred to the opponent if there is an issue at hand. If the opponent takes issue with something, I'll look into it and how it plays against the rules. If the opponent doesn't care, then what's the harm?
I don't put myself above this. My entry was late and I referenced this when it was posted, saying how it would only be allowable if my opponent was fine with it. He was, and here we are. Coley was fine with Thorns' post, and here we are. JoeyG was not fine with the outcome, and cited his reasons, and here we are. The end.
